Artistic director Robert Wilson’s “Portraits of Lady Gaga” will also be on display (see artnet News report). The 23 video portraits were shot in 2013 and premiered at the Louvre, marking an unprecedented collaboration between the premiere cultural institution, a contemporary artist, and a pop icon. The portraits are heavily influenced by several pieces in the Louvre’s permanent collection, including Jacques-Louis David’s The Death of Marat. The exhibition at the Watermill, which will remain until September 14, marks their first time being shown in the US.
