Update: IMOW in Sharjah for Muslim Women's Art & Voices

In October, IMOW’s executive director Clare Winterton, vice president of exhibitions and programming Catherine King and curator Samina Ali traveled to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates for the Muslim Women’s Art & Voices Partner Summit.
Held at the beautiful Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, the three-day summit brought together colleagues from partner museums in the Middle East, Asia and Europe. The convening marked the official launch of this groundbreaking online project, which will feature art works, poetry, creative writing, and new media created by Muslim women globally.
The delegates discussed the scope of the project and familiarized themselves with the diverse realities of Muslim women within their respective communities. Set to launch in spring 2013, we look forward to sharing more news as the Muslim Women’s Art & Voices online exhibition develops. Muslim Women's Art & Voices, a Museums Connect℠ project, is funded by grants from the MetLife Foundation and from theU.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the American Alliance of Museums.
