ANDY WARHOL CONVERSE COLLECTION

Andy Warhol x Converse Sneakers

In the mid-1980s, king of Pop Andy Warhol found a new kind of canvas: his Converse All Star tennis shoes. In a momentary departure from his graphic flowers and punchy gridded portraits, he screen-printed the sneakers by hand with clippings from newspaper advertisements and other commercial texts, using words like “meat” and “sin.” Now his iconic Campbell’s soup can imagery and other language will decorate the still-beloved “Chucks” in a collection for Converse. One design directly inspired by Warhol’s original will be released in a limited-edition run of just 200 pairs ($150).
