Meet White Ribbon Alliance, a MAMA Lead Partner
Every day, 1,000 girls and women die needlessly in pregnancy and childbirth; almost all of them are in the developing world. White Ribbon Alliance, a lead partner for IMOW’s MAMA: Motherhood Around the Globe exhibition, is pushing for lasting change so that women and newborns in every country have the life-saving healthcare which is their right. White Ribbon Alliance is a global network led by wide ranging membership from all walks of life – including grassroots volunteers, community, national and international organizations. They have 15 National Alliances addressing safe motherhood in their own countries, and members in 155 countries around the world. White Ribbon Alliance makes women’s voices heard to demand that maternal health is a political priority, to increase resources and improve policies, to end the scandalous loss of so many women and babies around the world. Some of White Ribbon Alliance’s current initiatives include working to increase the number of health workers globally and advocating for respectful care for women during their pregnancies and delivery. White Ribbon Alliance’s mission is to build an inclusive global movement, for all to play a part in preventing needless deaths in childbirth. IMOW is thrilled to have White Ribbon Alliance on board as a lead outreach partner!
