Aminatta spoke about her newly published, critically acclaimed book The Memory of Love, talked about what inspires her as a woman writer, and described her experience as a dual citizen of both the United Kingdom and Sierra Leone. | We are thrilled to be kicking off a series of international receptions for Focusing on Latin America: A Project of Economica next week in San Francisco! RSVP today to join IMOW in San Francisco on Feb. 16 to celebrate Focusing on Latin America. The San Francisco event will be the first in a series of international receptions: Stay tuned for details about Focusing on Latin America events in Argentina and Costa Rica on March 18, and Mexico (date TBD). The Focusing on Latin America exhibition reception will include a special multimedia viewing and behind-the-scenes tour featuring the contributions of artists, activists and thought leaders from Argentina, Costa Rica, and Mexico, and will honor San Francisco leader Sandra R. Hernández, M.D., for her work to empower women and girls. Join IMOW, the Women's Building, local community partners, and international women's rights activists in the Bay Area for an inspiring night of art, networking and dialogue! Event Details: Wednesday, Feb. 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Women's Building, Audre Lorde Room, 3543 18th St. #8, San Francisco, CA 94110. Refreshments will be served. The dinner proceedings will feature wine, fine cuisine, art installations, and a special performance by Nigerian American Award-Winning Poet and Recording Artist Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo. Iyeoka is a Poet and Recording Artist, a 2010 TED Global Fellow, and the 2nd place 2009 Individual World Poetry Slam Champion. All proceeds benefit IMOW's work advancing women's global creativity, self expression and human rights. | We are thrilled to announce that the Museum has appointed some new, outstanding women to our Board. Please join us in welcoming Benita Daryani and Cammie Dunaway. Benita Daryani is Director of Strategic Partnerships at Google where she has led Content Partnerships across key areas such as Commerce, Search Properties and Mobile. Benita and her teams have closed hundreds of business development deals and established numerous programs to enable product launches, increase usage and drive monetization for Google. Benita received a B.A. with Honors in Economics from Columbia University. She received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Cammie Dunaway is the US President and Global CMO of KidZania, Inc., a location based entertainment concept focused on children’s role-playing activities. The company has attractions throughout the world including Mexico, Japan, Dubai and Lisbon. Previously, Cammie served as Executive Vice President for Nintendo and Chief Marketing Officer for Yahoo!. Cammie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Richmond and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
