When are we not performing? A one-nightexhibition/performance/photo-shoot in Miami questions the realities and façades on both sides of the curtain. Video and performance artist Julika Rudelius asks others to perform for her, critiquing systems of power in gender, class and privilege. German artist Max Klinger's fin-de-siècle engravings expose a theatre of the bizarre: outlandish, nightmarish, romantic. French-Tunisian graffiti artist eL SEED finds himself performing dual identities, and, with calligraphic flourish, ultimately rejecting such false dichotomies. Patrick Lundeen's ominous and carnivalesque masks are simultaneously lighthearted and dark. And a group exhibition in Beijingprovides the stage-setting for the discussion of world issues, but unwittingly highlights the separation between the world of art and the realities beyond.
