Thank you to everyone who signed our Maternal Health Pledge to support improved healthcare for mothers globally! We are thrilled to announce that we’ve reached our goal of 10,000 signatures, with signatures coming from more than 120 countries, from Nigeria to New Zealand, Australia to Azerbaijan!
Your signatures will be presented at the UN General Assembly in New York City in just a few weeks, and will show world leaders that there is a strong global movement to protect mothers and improve maternal health. If you haven’t signed yet, there is still time! Sign today and be part of the movement >>
Additional thanks to our partner organization, Every Mother Counts, for their support in encouraging signatures. “Every Mother Counts is thrilled that the maternal health pledge goal of 10,000 signatures was met!” said Erin Thornton, Executive Director, Every Mother Counts. “This pledge is a powerful call to action to unite maternal health supporters across the globe. Together with IMOW, we encourage the public to continue to sign the pledge and help raise awareness in support of reducing needless maternal deaths globally.”
If you’ve explored MAMA, tell us what you think! Take our short survey about the exhibition and we’ll send a $1 donation to either Global Fund for Women, Every Mother Counts, or the Fistula Foundation. You choose! Take the survey now>>

Museums Connect funds Muslim Women’s Art and Voices

Grant Award for Next Online Exhibition

We are thrilled to announce that IMOW has received a prestigious  Museums Connectsm grant from the U.S. Department of State and the American Association of Museums for our next global online exhibition, to focus on Muslim women’s art and voices.
The project will spotlight the voices and ideas of a new generation of Muslim women, addressing myths and prejudices about Muslim women and fostering understanding between Muslims and non-Muslims in the United States and globally. The project will engage partners around the world, including museums in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The new exhibition is scheduled to launch in 2013.
“The International Museum of Women’s proposal was exceptional in its commitment to reach beyond a local community to connect with an international audience, while exploring ways in which the community can engage with, and benefit from, museums in other countries,” said Ford W. Bell, President of the American Association of Museums.

Help Make MAMA’s Voice Heard

MAMA: Motherhood Around the Globe launched in January 2012 to explore the art, stories and ideas of mothers from all over the world. Since MAMA’s launch, we have featured a new gallery every month and spearheaded a global pop-up photography project, Making Mothers Visible.
MAMA has been a hit with over 100,000 visits to date, but we aren’t done yet. Donate today to support MAMA’s last trimester, including our ‘Mama Power’ gallery, which highlights the power of mamas as advocates, citizens and consumers.
Plus, when you become a member or renew your membershipyou’ll be able to take advantage of our exciting new membership benefits, including an e-book, notecard set, and art prints from MAMA!
