MAMA is Powerful, and she still has a lot to say

Remarkable Women

Dear Friends,
MAMA: Motherhood Around the Globe launched in January 2012, featuring the art, stories and ideas of a new, global generation of mothers. MAMA is powerful, attracting over 100,000 visits to date and inspiring women and men around the world to take action on issues that matter to mothers.
MAMA still has a lot to say! Your donation today will support MAMA’s last trimester, including ‘Mama Power,’ the final gallery which highlights the power of mamas as advocates, citizens and consumers.
‘Mama Power’ will feature heroes in the field like Suraya Pakzad in Afghanistan, a mother and founder of Voice of Women Organization. Suraya is a committed advocate for women’s rights in Afghanistan against incredible odds, including death threats, and is a true exemplar of ‘Mama Power.’ A mother of six, she has become one of the most prominent figures in the Afghan women’s movement, helping to start women’s shelters, train female school teachers, prevent self-immolation, and much more.
Why share Suraya’s story, and the stories of other global heroes like her? Because it sparks action, inspiring people to take action on issues of mothers’ human rights and to become Maternal Health Ambassadors in their communities. MAMA is educating thousands of women and men, creating a ripple effect the world over.
Will you join IMOW’s global community today, and help us share the stories of women like Suraya with women and men all over the world?
Plus, when you become a member, you’ll be able to take advantage of our exciting new membership benefits, including an e-book, notecard set, and prints of art from MAMA.
Warmly,
Clare Winterton
Executive Director
