The VIEWS: Darkened Theatres, Distant Territories - May 14 - 20

Step right in...
...from the light into the dark, for an experience of the other-worldly, the phantom, and the mesmerizing. You can explore The Island, a fictitious place conceptualized and mapped by Charles Avery. Or step gingerly into forbidden territory, onto the wing of an airplane with Roman Ondák. Cross into the scintillating landscape of neon, simultaneously fragile and dangerous. Behold La Chambre Claire, with camera shutters clacking messages and projections overlapping. And then rest awhile in the darkened theatre to watch and experience four films on the passing of time and memory. Embark into Intense Proximity, a Wonderland-esque exploration of territory, culture, and identity. Tread the line between conceptualism and painting with Pat Steir and Tom Marioni, a veritable battleground of opinion. And finally move between the darkness and the light with Edouard Duval Carrié's sacred images and beneficent spirits.
