And remember, Your Voices: On Motherhood is special sneak preview of our flagship exhibitionMAMA: Motherhood Around the Globe, launching in January 2012. - Courageous Motherhood, Sasja van Vechgel (Tanzania): Sasja van Vechgel's photo seris shows how the HIV/AIDS pandemic affects mothers, children, and families, focusing on one community in Tanzania.
- Detachment, Maria Adela Diaz (Guatemala): This mother/daughter video performance explores how the mother-child relationship impacts identity and expresses the need for both mother and daughter to “detach” in order to grow as individuals.
- Breakdown in the Closet, Humaira Abid (Pakistan/USA): In her intricate wooden sculptures, Humaira Abid expresses the pain and disappointment that comes along with miscarriage—a frequently unspoken part of many women's experiences of pregnancy and motherhood.
- All Day, Alexia Nye Jackson (USA): Alexia Nye Jackson’s documentary illuminates the economic value of mothers’ work, and calls for policy changes in the U.S. that would allow women to balance both work and mothering.
- Agatha’s Wardrobe, Wanda Torres (France/Puerto Rico): Wanda Torres’ art piece reflects her conflicting emotions around having children while confronting the ticking of her biological clock and her persistent questions of whether or not children are right for her.
- There is No “I” in Mother, Catherine Haley Epstein (USA): Catherine Haley Epstein’s paintings touch on the many ways women’s identities shift and change when they become mothers.
- A Call for Freedom of Expression, Gail Silvan (USA): Gail Silvan expresses the indignity of being a working mother forced to pump breastmilk on the floor of a public restroom in this poem.

IMOW curated a selection of 34 stories from 600 submissions that came in from all over the world.
