Abigail Disney on Women, War and Peace

The International Museum of Women is thrilled to present our latest Curating Change selection, from filmmakerAbigail Disney On Women, War, and Peace.
Abigail Disney is a filmmaker and philanthropist. Her longtime passion for women’s issues and peace building culminated in her first film, the acclaimed “Pray the Devil Back to Hell,” about the Liberian women who peacefully ended their country’s fourteen-year civil war. She is the Executive Producer of the new, groundbreaking PBS miniseries “Women, War and Peace,” the most comprehensive global media initiative ever mounted on the role of women in peace and conflict.
“My selections for IMOW show the multi-faceted resiliency of women in the face of the terrible physical and emotional violence experienced during war,” saysAbigail.  “I've seen firsthand how often women's voices have a way of disappearing from the public dialogues. I love IMOW for ensuring that women are heard!”
Abigail’s selections include the photo series “On Small Shoulders” from Afghanistan; Loung Ung’s story “Surviving the Killing Fields of Cambodia”; and “Ordinary Lives” featuring women in war-torn Lebanon…plus many other amazing pieces from IMOW’s exhibition archives!
Previous guest curators include Tiffany Shlain on ConnectednessHafsat Abiola on Justice and Jennifer Siebel Newsom on Representation. New guest curator selections will launch in Curating Change every two weeks throughout October and November. Be sure to check back soon for the next guest curator selections!
