Saint Motel and The Silent Comedy 
July 7 | 8 pm

The kick-off concert in LACMA Muse’s brand new concert series includes performances by up-and-coming SoCal indie bands Saint Motel and The Silent Comedy, art-making, and more, all in our outdoor entrance pavilion. Indie pop band Saint Motel delivers explosive energy and visual soundscapes that blend the sonic with the artful while San Diego natives The Silent Comedy meld acoustic rock with a touch of bluegrass.

STORYTELLING FOR FAMILIES
Stories ‘Round a (Flashlight) Campfire 
Families of all ages will gather for nighttime storytelling in the galleries inspired by the strange and (not too) spooky side of Tim Burton.

FREE TALKS IN CELEBRATION OF JOHN LAUTNER 
Stayin' Alive: The Legacy of John Lautner
July 16 | 2 pm

This panel, featuring architects and critics Michael Rotondi, Craig Hodgetts, and Sylvia Lavin, will look at Lautner’s work, assessing its impact on the thinking and practice of architecture. It will be followed by a conversation on architectural preservation, featuring Frank Preusser, LACMA’s Conservation Scientist, and Christopher Carr, Vice President of The John Lautner Foundation, and moderated by archivist and cultural historian Nicholas Olsberg.

Dan Graham Discusses John Lautner

Dan Graham is a conceptual artist, art critic, and theorist. His work consists of film, video, performance, sculpture, photography, and architectural models, focusing especially on the relationship between his artwork and the viewer, and the study of space and light.

SPECIAL TOUR
Visiting Watts Towers 
July 23, 24 | 11 am
Get an insider’s look at Watts Towers, one of the city’s most recognizable works of art in the world. Take a round-trip guided tour from LACMA to this iconic monument, hand-built by Italian immigrant Simon Rodia from 1921 to 1954, and back. Space is limited. Additional tour dates in August and September.

The conservation and preservation work conducted by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is pursuant to a contract with the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles. Funding for the planning phase was made possible by a grant from the James Irvine Foundation.

FREE 24-HOUR SCREENING
Christian Marclay's The Clock 
July 28–29 | 5 pm–5 pm
Back by popular demand, LACMA will show a 24-hour screening of artist Christian Marclay's The Clock. Recently awarded the prestigious Golden Lion at this year's Venice Biennale, The Clockis a 24-hour single-channel montage constructed from thousands of moments of cinema and television history depicting the passage of time.

EXHIBITION OPENING
Possible Worlds: Mario Ybarra, Jr., Karla Diaz, and
Slanguage Studio Select from the Permanent Collections 
On view through September 5
Los Angeles-based artist Mario Ybarra and Slanguage, his team of collaborators, have worked with LACMA and the Watts House Project to create alternate or “possible worlds” out of unconventional materials. Inspired by their residency at the home of a Watts resident, as well as the Watts Towers, Ybarra and team created an installation at LACMA that features assemblage, folk art, vernacular graphics, images of the Watts Towers, art from LACMA’s collection, and a new sculpture by the artist.
