Russia Issue

Russia fascinates, perhaps because we do know how to talk about it. We cannot ever know it. The Russian revolution influenced some of the most compelling design and artists of the 20th century. Movements such as productivism and constructivism supported the applied arts, intending to change everyday life for the creation of a new collective reality. Post soviet Russia, by contrast, is not motivated by a specific ideology. The booming economic growth of free market capitalism has produced instead a sense of opportunity, the privileges and challenge of mobility, access to western goods, and accumulation.
