What Choices Do the Next Generation of Workers Face?
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our latest Project of Economica, Young Women Speaking the Economy! Each month we’ll be showcasing revealing content from the exhibition creators, 44 young women from Denmark, Sudan, the Philippines, and the United States.
We’re kicking things off with stories from Young Women Speaking the Economy about Choices. As young women everywhere prepare to enter the global workforce, they are faced with countless decisions that can affect their economic futures. Questions about what jobs to choose, how to balance a career and family, or how to make ends meet in tough economic times, all loom large. See how choices large and small weigh on the minds of the next generation of global workers.
- Listen to Dana Maralason’s (USA) original music composition, and read her reflections on the tough choices she’ll have to make when deciding how to balance career and motherhood
- Read Bayan el-Bashier’s (Sudan) essay about what her international upbringing has taught her about the choices available to women in different cultures
- Watch Heidi Hoelgaard’s (Sweden) short documentary video about her decision to leave a well-paying job to return to school
- See Kaneesha Paulate’s (Philippines) cartoon and essay about reconciling her family’s dreams with her own
Explore these stories and more in Young Women Speaking the Economy! Help make young women’s voices heard by sharing the exhibition with your social networks, and participate in the conversation by leaving a comment on stories that intrigue you!
