International Young Women Speaking the Economy Exhibition Events

Thank you to everyone who came attended the April 21 Young Women Speaking the Economy exhibition launch at Mills College in Oakland, California.
We were thrilled to have Young Women Speaking the Economy participantsEman Asim from Sudan; Valeene Salanga from the Philippines; Kristina Moeller Andersen from Denmark; and Kirby Kimber, Colleen Kimsey, Dana Maralason, and Jessica Glennon-Zukoff from the United States, as well as special guest speakers Marjorie Ames from the U.S. Department of State and Maya Soetoro-Ng, educator, author, and half-sister of President Obama.
Mark your calendars for these forthcoming international exhibition events:
Sudan, May 5: IMOW and Ahfad University for Women Sudanese Women's Museum invite you to a program and reception Thursday, May 5, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Ahfad University for Women, Conference Hall, School of Management Building Alarda Street Umdurman, Sudan. Meet participants from Ahfad University for Women, see the work of participants from all four countries, and hear from special guest speaker Dr. Suad Ibrahim Issa, spokeswoman for the Southern Sudan Referendum Commission.
Philippines, May 28: IMOW, Miriam College, and the Ayala Museum welcome you to join them on Saturday, May 28, from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon on the first floor of the Ayala Museum, Makati Ave. cor. Dela Rosa St., Makati City, Philippines. RSVP to 580-5400 loc. 205/433-8625, ywsephil@gmail.com. Attire: business/smart casual. The special guests for this event are Patricia Licuanan, Ph. D., Chairperson of the Commision on Higher Education and International Museum of Women Global Council Member, and Catherine M. King, Vice President of Exhibitions and Programs at the International Museum of Women.

Documentary Film Screening & Discussion with Xoliswa Sithole

 

The International Museum of Women is proud to cosponsor this exciting event featuring South African filmmaker Xoliswa Sithole on May 12 at the World Affairs Council auditorium in San Francisco. Join Xoliswa, moderator Sarah Manyika, and the World Affairs Council for a screening of her recent work and a discussion about poverty in Africa and how she uses filmmaking to combat that poverty. Tickets are $15 for the public, but IMOW members are eligible for a discounted rate of $7.
