March has been a busy month for Agenda seeing our writers probe no less than five European gallery shows and two international art events: Quinn Latimer on Sofia Hultén at RaebervonStenglin, Zürich; Vivian Sky Rehberg on Joachim Koester at Jan Mot, Brussels; Octavio Zaya on Elmgreen & Dragset at Galería Helga de Alvear, Madrid, and in Berlin, Kirsty Bell on Cerith Wyn Evans's ambient neons at Galerie Neu, and Adam Kleinman on James Franco at Peres Projects within the context of the recent Guttenberg scandal. Covering the larger art events saw Pauline J. Yao reporting on the 2011 Singapore Biennial, and November Paynter on the 10th Sharjah Biennial, and Art Dubai in the UAE. These varied reviews—in tone and subject matter—at times found common ground in their subtle recognition of newsworthy events plaguing the headlines of late. Look forward to forthcoming texts by Anna Gritz on Ben Rivers at Matt's Gallery, London, Michelle Grabner on Claire Sherman at Kavi Gupta, Chicago, Merve Unsal on Anya Ostoya at Bortolami and Paddy Johnson on David Altmejd at Andrea Rosen, both in New York.
