The I.M.O.W. Web survey closed Monday afternoon, but not before more than 600 people responded! We would like to thank you for your input and support. Your responses will help shape the future of the Museum, and thanks to you, the I.M.O.W. board will donate $1,000 to the Global Fund for Women's Crisis Fund to benefit women in Haiti.
Sincere thanks from the I.M.O.W. Team!

Economica: Spotlight on the I.M.O.W. Community

Submit Your Work Today and Be Featured in Economica!

We love receiving new submissions from I.M.O.W. users around the world because they help keep Economica: Women and the Global Economy vibrant and relevant--not to mention the fact that they're beautiful and inspiring! Don't forget, we are still accepting submissions for Economica. To learn more about submitting your work, visit our Call for Submissions page. Here are just a few of our recent favorites:
  • PHOTOGRAPHY: Women Who Light the Dark>> Photojournalist Paola Gianturco visited the Barefoot College in India. There, she met women from all over Africa who are being trained by Indian women to bring electricity back to their villages for the first time.
  • ART: Bear and Bull>> Using familiar financial language, artist Alina Chau presents a beautiful and fanciful depiction of the current economic climate in her piece, "Bear and Bull," created especially for Economica.
  • ESSAY: The Maternal Gift Economy>> Our current economic system is based on exchange, but Genevieve Vaughan suggests that an alternative economic model based on giving could help us recover from the global financial crisis.
Explore all of the stories in Economica, and help us curate by leaving a comment or recommending your favorites! The stories with the most activity will be listed as "Most Popular" on our site and have more visibility.
